Music Parents is the booster club for all E.O. Smith Music ensembles. This group works to promote and support music education at E.O. Smith High School and in the surrounding community. We are very proud that so many students have chosen such a positive way to express themselves. It is a pleasure to support the commitment and hard work of these students and dedicated staff through the Music Parents.

Proceeds from fund-raising and donations help us to fund various yearly events, such as:

• Senior Scholarship Awards - $250 is awarded to graduating seniors who will be going on to study Music or Music Education in college.
• Snacks for the annual Music Department Trip - this year, it's Toronto!
• EO Smith Music Web Site - members of the Music Parents have volunteered to launch and manage this website but there are incidental costs for hosting the site.
• EO Smith Blog Site - students and parents volunteer time and effort to contribute content to this site
• SmartMusic - in Spring of 2008 and 2009, the Music Parents gifted the cost of establishing a few computers with subscriptions to SmartMusic. This gift helps the Music Department get closer to their goals of introducing technology into the Music classroom and benefits the students as well as the teachers.

One of the goals for Music Parents in this upcoming year is to help the Music Department advance their efforts to bring technology in the classroom by raising funds and accepting donations towards more computers with “SmartMusic” learning software for band, orchestra and choir.

Volunteer

Volunteers are such a huge part of the success of Music Parents. Your help at even one event this year will be greatly appreciated! Contact us to find out how you can help.

Here are some examples of how you can do one thing to help make the year a success for Music Parents!

• Be the kind person who makes reminder calls to folks who said they would bake for their child's concert, or set up, serve or clean-up
• Bake a dozen cookies for the refreshment table the night of your child's concert
• Bring a few 2 liter bottles of soda, juice or water for the refreshment table
• Offer to set up the refreshment table the night of your child's concert
• Help serve refreshments
• Offer minor alteration skills to hem and adjust uniforms
• Help a music student put on a fundraiser
